November is here and that means it’s time for basketball season in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Here at 13 Twenty-Four, we are huge Detroit Pistons fans. We watch every game and we’re always cheering on our hometown team. The Pistons have a real shot to make a push in a weaker Eastern Conference this year, and that’s why we wanted to make sure that all of our residents are prepared for an exciting upcoming Pistons season.

The Pistons success this year will be tied into the fortunes of three players: Reggie Jackson, Blake Griffin, and Andre Drummond. Jackson was acquired to be a star point guard. He hasn’t lived up to that billing yet, but it doesn’t mean there’s not time for it to happen. The key for Jackson this year will be his health, as he’s missed more than 30 games in each of the past two years. If he is able to stay healthy, his driving and playmaking will be critical to the success of the other two key players on this year’s roster.

Next up is Blake Griffin. At this point of his career, Blake might be a better name than an actual player. Previously known as a player with unmatched athleticism, age and injuries have started to take a toll on his body. But as his jumps have become less explosive, Blake has improved the other aspects of his game. He has become a very good three point shooter, and posted a career-high 6.2 assists per game after being traded to the Pistons last year. If the Pistons are going to make a push for the playoffs this year, it will be on the shoulders of Blake Griffin.

In one of the most surprising developments in the NBA last year, Andre Drummond made huge improvements to his game. Still just 25 years old, Drummond has the potential to make another jump this year if he is again able to improve. He made twice as many free throws last year as any other in his career and tripled his assist totals. If Andre makes another improvement this year, look for him to be a lock for the NBA All-Star game in February.

Are you excited to watch the Pistons this year? We sure are! Get together a group of friends in your 13 Twenty-Four apartment, grab a few snacks, and sit back and watch the Pistons make an exciting run this NBA season.
